Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
  • 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 4 c. apples (approximately 6), pared and diced

Directions

    Sift the flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt into a large bowl. Stir in the apples, nuts, butter and lightly beaten eggs.

    Mix ingredients thoroughly together.

    The batter will be very thick.

    Transfer to greased pan.

    Bake in a 350° oven until cake springs back at touch, about 1 1/4 hours.

    Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream.
