  • 1 lb. raisins
  • 1 lb. currants
  • 1 lb. cherries, crystallized
  • 1/2 lb. pineapple, crystallized
  • 1/4 lb. orange peel, crystallized
  • 1/4 lb. citron, crystallized
  • 1/4 lb. lemon peel, crystallized
  • 1/2 lb. dates
  • 1/2 lb. almonds
  • 1/2 lb. English walnuts
  • 1/2 lb. pecans
  • 1 lb. butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 4 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. fruit cake spice
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 pt. grape juice
  • 2 c. sugar

    Cream butter, sugar and eggs together.

    Sift flour, baking powder and soda and sift again.

    Cut fruit and flour with 1/2 flour.

    Add spice to floured fruit.

    Mix batter with 1/2 flour and grape juice.

    Line pan with two layers waxed paper and grease. Bake 5 to 6 hours at 250°.

    This recipe makes two 5 pound cakes. Use tube cake pan.
