Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 (13 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. nuts, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 (9-inch) pie crust or chocolate crumb crust

Directions

    Combine butter, evaporated milk, egg yolks and brown sugar. Cook in double boiler over boiling water, stirring constantly, until thick.

    Add vanilla and nuts.

    Remove from heat; add chocolate pieces until melted.

    Set aside.

    Beat egg whites and salt until stiff.

    Fold into cooled chocolate mixture and pour into pie shell.

    Freeze until firm.
