  • 2/3 c. milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
  • confectioners sugar

Directions

    Beat milk and egg; blend in flour, sugar, baking powder and salt to form batter.

    Holding your finger over bottom of funnel, fill with batter.

    Hold funnel as near oil as possible (oil in deep fryer or frying pan heated to 375°).

    Drop batter into oil in a circular movement from center outward.

    Fry until puffy and golden brown, turning once.

    Remove; place on paper towel.

    Sift confectioners sugar on cakes.
  8. 8
    Serve at once.

    Makes 2 dozen 3-inch cakes.
