- 4 egg yolks
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/3 c. cocoa
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/3 c. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 egg whites
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 c. heavy cream
- 3/4 c. confectioners sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 c. sliced peaches, drained
Directions

1Grease and flour 2 (9-inch) square pans.

2Beat egg yolks. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar.

3Combine flour, cocoa, 1/4 cup sugar and baking soda.

4Add alternately with water and 1 teaspoon vanilla on low speed.

5Beat egg whites in small mixing bowl until foamy.

6Add 2 tablespoons sugar and beat until stiff.

7Carefully fold beaten eggs to chocolate mixture.

8Spread batter into pan. Bake at 375° for 14 to 16 minutes.

9Cool 10 minutes.

10Beat cream, confectioners sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla until stiff.

11Frost one cake with 1 cup of whipped cream.

12Fill center with peaches. Place second cake on top and repeat.

13Chill 1 hour.
