German Chocolate Angel Pie

- 2 egg whites
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- 1 (4 oz.) bar German sweet chocolate
- 3 Tbsp. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. whipping cream
Directions

1Beat egg whites with the salt and cream of tartar until foamy. Add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating to very stiff peaks. Fold in vanilla and nuts.

2Spoon into lightly greased 8-inch pie pan.

3Bake at 300° for 50 to 55 minutes.

4Cool.

5Stir chocolate in the water over heat until melted.

6Cool until thickened.

7Add 1 teaspoon vanilla.

8Whip cream and fold in chocolate mixture.

9Pile into shell.

10Chill 2 hours.
