- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. butter flavor Crisco
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 unbeaten eggs
- 4 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Add 1 tablespoon of sugar.

3In a large mixing bowl, pour boiling water over Crisco, remaining sugar and salt.

4Stir to melt Crisco.

5Add eggs, yeast mixture and 2 cups of the flour.

6Beat until smooth.

7Stir in remaining flour.
-
8Let rise 1 hour at room temperature; stir down.

9Refrigerate 1 hour. Roll out 1/4 of the dough into an 8 x 12-inch rectangle.

10Cut in 2-inch squares.

11Fry a few at a time in hot, deep Crisco at 350° for 1 minute on each side.

12Drain.
-
13Serve warm with jam.

14Repeat with remaining dough.

15Unused dough may be stored in the refrigerator.

16Yields 8 dozen.
