  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 c. molasses
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 c. flour

    Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.

    Add egg.

    Beat well after; add molasses.

    Stir soda into warm water.

    Add alternately with sifted dry ingredients.

    Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Bake about 20 minutes in a 350° oven.
