- 3/4 c. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- additional sugar
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar in mixing bowl.

2Add egg and molasses; beat well. Sift together dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture.

3Mix well. Chill dough 1 to 2 hours.

4Roll into 1 1/4-inch balls and dip in sugar.

5Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

6Bake at 375° for about 10 minutes or until set and surface cracks.

7(Cookies will be chewy.)

8Cool on wire rack. Yields approximately 4 dozen.
