- 1/4 c. sugar

1In 1-inch boiling water, add salt in large skillet.

2Cook whole onions, covered, over medium heat about 30 minutes, or until tender.

4In large skillet, melt butter with sugar.

5Add onions; saute over medium heat, turning until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
