- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon dried dried fine herb, crushed (Italian, basil, thyme, etc.)
- 1 14 cups water
- 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions

1Combine 1 1/2 cups of the flour, the yeast, and fine herbes.

2Heat together the water, butter or margarine, sugar, and salt just till warm (115 to 120 degrees), stirring till butter almost melts.

4Beat at low speed of electric mixer for 1/2 minute, scraping bowl constantly.

6Stir in remaining flour.

7Cover; let rise till double.

8Stir down dough.

9Spread evenly in greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.

10Cover; let rise till double.

11Bake in a 375 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
