Herb Butter-Spread Bread

- 1 loaf (16 oz.) white bread (unsliced)
- 3/4 c. unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp. whole leaf dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp. whole leaf dried marjoram
Directions

1With serrated edge knife, cut off top, side and end crusts of bread.

2Do not cut away bottom crust.

3Cut bread, leaving bottom attached, in half lengthwise and into 3/4-inch pieces crosswise. Cream butter.

4Add salt and Worcestershire.

5Place thyme and marjoram leaves in palm of hand; crush lightly to release flavoring oils.

6Add herbs to butter; mix well.

7Spread all cut surfaces of bread inside and out with butter.

8Place bread on rimmed baking sheet.

9(The butter will run as it heats.)

10Bake, uncovered, in a 325° oven for about 30 minutes, or until crisp. Serve hot.
