- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 1/3 cups self-rising flour
- 3/4 cup milk
Directions

1Heat oven to 450°.

2Cut shortening into flour until mixture resembles fine crumbs.

3Stir in just enough milk so dough leaves side of bowl and round up into ball.

4Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead lightly 10 times.

5Roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut with floured 2 inch biscuit cutter.

6Place on ungreased cookie sheet, about 1 inch apart for crusty side, touching for soft sides. Bake until golden, brown; about 10 to 12 minutes.
