- 1 c. flour
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. cocoa
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. shortening, melted
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 4 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 3/4 c. hot water
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Mix flour, sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt in mixing bowl.

3Stir in milk and shortening.

4Stir in nuts.

5Spread in a 9-inch pan.

6Mix brown sugar and 4 tablespoons cocoa; sprinkle over batter.

7Pour hot water over batter and bake for 45 minutes.

8During baking, cake mixture rises to top and chocolate sauce settles to bottom. Invert square of pudding on dessert plates.

9Dip sauce from pan over each, or the entire platter.

10Serve warm, with or without whipped cream.
