Ingredients

  • 1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 14 cup chopped onion
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 18 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • cracker
  • pita bread, and or vegetables

Directions

    Drain the chickpeas, reserving the liquid.

    Combine the chickpeas, lemon juice, onion, garlic, oil, cumin, pepper and salt in a blender or food processor.

    Puree until smooth, adding the reserved liquid, if needed, to thin the puree (should be the consistency of mashed potatoes).

    Refrigerate for 3-4 hours before serving to blend the flavors.

    Serve with veggies and crackers.
