- 1/2 c. soft butter
- 1 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 c. water
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1 c. flour
- 3 eggs
- 1 glaze recipe
- slivered or sliced almonds
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Cut 1/2 cup butter into 1 cup flour. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons water and mix into a ball.

3Divide in half.

4Press each half onto ungreased baking sheet, spreading into a rectangle about 6 x 12-inches.

5Heat remaining butter and water to boiling.

6Remove from heat and stir in almond extract and flour. Stir vigorously until mixture forms a ball (1 minute).

7Beat in all eggs at once, mixing until smooth and glossy.

8Divide in half; spread evenly over first layer.

9Bake 60 minutes or until topping is crisp and brown.

10Cool.

11Frost with glaze and sprinkle with almonds.
