  • 3 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, pressed or minced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 1 (No. 2) can Italian tomatoes (about 2 1/2 c.)
  • 3 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 4 qt. water
  • 2 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lb. lasagna noodles
  • 2 lb. Ricotta cheese or 1 large carton of cottage cheese
  • 1 lb. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 lb. yellow cheese (American or Colby)
  • 1 c. Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. parsley

Directions

    Heat 3 tablespoons olive oil in a large deep skillet.

    Add onion and garlic.

    Cook until onion is transparent.

    Stir occasionally.

    Add ground beef and ground pork broken into small pieces.

    Cook until lightly brown.

    Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, water, salt, pepper and oregano.

    Cook, uncovered, over low heat about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
