Layered Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 head lettuce
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 1 c. grated carrots
  • 4 hard-cooked eggs, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 can peas, drained well
  • 1 c. chopped ham
  • 1/2 c. chopped onions or red onion rings
  • 2 c. mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3/4 c. shredded cheese
  • 8 slices crisp bacon, crumbled
  • 2 large tomatoes, sliced

Directions

    Tear or cut up lettuce and place in a large glass salad bowl. Layer remaining ingredients in order stated.

    Make sure the mayonnaise seals the edges.

    Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 4 hours.

    Bacon and tomatoes may be added just before serving.
