  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 tsp. double action baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. cooking oil
  • 6 unbeaten egg yolks
  • 3/4 c. cold water
  • 1/2 tsp. maple extract
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. pecans or walnuts, chopped fine
  • 1 c. egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions

    Beat in large bowl until very stiff.

    Pour egg yolk mixture over whites, while folding in with rubber spatula.

    Bake in ungreased pan at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
