Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1 c. rolled oats
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 6 to 6 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Pour boiling water over rolled oats, molasses, shortening and salt.

2Cool to lukewarm.

3Dissolve yeast in warm water.

4Add yeast, eggs and 3 cups flour to oat mixture.

5Beat until smooth.

6Stir in enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough.

7Knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.

8Place in greased bowl and cover.

9Let rise until double in size, about 1 hour.

10Punch down. Shape into rolls and place in shallow pan.

11Cover loosely.

12Rise until doubled in size, 30 to 40 minutes.

13Bake in a 350° oven for 20 to 25 minutes.

14Brush with melted butter.

15Makes 3 dozen rolls. Enjoy!
