Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour, sifted once
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • small additional amount sugar
  • small additional amount melted butter
  • 2 cans Solo almond paste
  • 2 egg whites
  • chopped nuts and candied cherries
  • powdered sugar

Directions

    Mix first four ingredients as for pie crust and set aside. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and let stand for 10 minutes.

    Mix well beaten egg yolks with warmed milk and add risen yeast. Combine with flour mixture that had previously been set aside.

    Put in greased and covered bowl and refrigerate overnight.
