- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup quick oats
- 12 cup whole wheat flour
- 12 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast
- 12 cup warm water
- 5 cups flour
Directions

1Pour boiling water over oats, whole-wheat flour, sugar, salt, and butter.

2Cool until lukewarm.

3Dissolve the yeast in warm water.

4Add this to the lukewarm batter.

5Add flour until the batter is thick enough to knead.

6Knead, adding enough flour while kneading to make a smooth elastic dough.

7Cover dough and let rise in a warm place until the dough is double in size.

8Punch the dough down.

9Shape into two loaves and put into ungreased bread pans.

10Let rise again until dough is even with top of loaf pans.

11Bake at 350F for 45 minutes.

12When loaves are still hot, grease tops of loaves with butter for a soft crust.
