- 6 to 8 large, tart apples
- pastry for 2-crust pie
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. flour
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp. oleo or butter
Directions

1Pare and core apples; cut in quarters and slice thin.

2Line a 9-inch pie pan with pastry.

3Mix sugar, flour and spices.

4Rub a little sugar mixture into pastry.

5Arrange sliced apples, overlapping in pan.

6Dot with butter.

7Cut slits in top crust. Moisten edges of lower crust and place top crust over apples; press edges together, trim and flute edges.

8Brush with slightly beaten egg white, if desired, or sprinkle lightly with sugar. Bake at 425° for 40 to 45 minutes or until apples are tender.
