Old Fashioned Raisin Pie

  • 3 c. raisins
  • 3 c. water
  • 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
  • pastry for 9-inch pie

Directions

    Combine raisins and water; boil five minutes.

    Blend sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon.

    Add to raisins and stir until clear. Remove from heat and add vinegar and butter.

    Cool slightly.

    Turn into pastry-lined pan.

    Cover with top crust or lattice strips. Bake at 425° for 10 minutes.

    Lower heat to 350° and bake about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
