Old-Time Rice Pudding

  • 3/4 c. uncooked rice
  • 1 1/2 qt. milk
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. raisins

Directions

    In a 2 1/2-quart baking dish, combine first 5 ingredients. Bake at 325° for 2 1/2 hours, stirring twice during first hour and several times during remaining time.

    Add raisins 1/2 hour before pudding is done and allow crust to form again during final baking time.

    Serve warm or cold with cream, if desired.
