Ingredients
- 4 medium onions, cut in 1/2-inch rings
- 1 1/2 c. cubed American cheese
- 4 slices buttered toast, cut in 1/2-inch cubes
- 1/4 c. oleo
- 2 c. milk
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 beaten eggs
Directions

1Cook onions in boiling salted water until tender.

2Stir occasionally to separate into rings.

3Drain well.

4Place 1/2 of onions into 2-quart casserole.

5Add 1/2 of the cheese and 1/2 of the toast.

6Melt butter and blend in flour.

7Stir milk.

8Cook until thick.

9Add salt, pepper and hot mixture to beaten eggs, a little at a time, until blended.

10Add another layer of onions, cheese and toast.

11Pour sauce over top.

12Lift to let sauce get down through. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
