Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 1/2 to 3 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2/3 c. warm water

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in warm water.

    Mix shortening, sugar and egg. Stir in dissolved yeast and add flour.

    Beat until combined. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.

    Turn out on floured surface and roll into desired shapes; or after mixing refrigerate overnight and roll out.

    Let rise 1 to 2 hours and cook at 375° until brown and brush with melted butter.
