- 2 Tbsp. salad oil
- 4 c. shredded red cabbage
- 2 c. cubed, unpared apples (2 medium)
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. vinegar
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 onion
- dash of pepper
- ground cloves to taste or 4 to 6 whole (optional)
- 1 bay leaf (remove before serving)
- 1 Tbsp. flour
Directions

1Heat oil in a large pan. Add remaining ingredients. Cover tightly. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally. For crisp cabbage, cook 15 minutes. For old fashioned, cook 25 to 30 minutes. Sprinkle with flour and blend.
