  • cold water
  • salt
  • water

    String and break green beans in pieces, about 1-inch long. Wash and cook until they are tender (about 1 1/4 hours).

    Wash them again in cold water and pack in a crock-jar, alternating a layer of beans with a thin layer of salt.

    When the jar is full, add enough water to fill all empty spaces.
