- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 1 egg
- 2 c. pinto beans, cooked and mashed well
- 1 1/2 c. plain flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 c. raw chopped apples
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 c. black walnuts
Directions

1Grease and flour large tube pan or two loaf pans; preheat oven to 350°.

2Cream together in large bowl the sugar, shortening, egg and pinto beans until thoroughly blended.

3Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices; add gradually to bean mixture, beating well.

4Fold in chopped apples, raisins and black walnuts.

5Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
