- 4 qt. popcorn
- 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 3 to 4 Tbsp. flavored gelatin powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Preheat oven to 250°.

2Place popcorn in a large 4-inch deep buttered baking pan.

3Keep warm in oven.

4Cut two large pieces of wax paper to fit on 2 cookie sheets.

5Lightly butter the wax paper. In a larger saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, butter, salt and cream of tartar.

6Bring to a boil, stirring constantly then cook without stirring until mixture reaches 250° on a candy thermometer.

7Stir in gelatin powder and continue cooking for about 1 minute until mixture reaches 260°.

8Remove from heat.

9Stir in baking soda quickly but thoroughly.

10Remove popcorn from oven and pour syrup mixture at once while foamy over popcorn.

11Mix gently to coat.

12Bake at 200° for 1 hour, stirring 2 or 3 times.

13Turn out onto wax paper.

14Cool completely, then separate into small pieces. Store in tightly covered containers.
