  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 6 eggs, separated
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. margarine, softened
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. butter flavoring
  • 1 tsp. almond extract

    Blend poppy seed and buttermilk; let stand overnight in refrigerator.

    Next morning beat egg yolks, sugar and margarine together until fluffy.

    Add poppy seed and buttermilk alternately with flour and baking soda, mixing well.

    Add butter flavoring and almond extract; blend.

    Beat egg whites stiff and fold into batter.

    Pour into greased Bundt pan and bake in preheated oven at 350° for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours.
