  • 1 c. butter
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. lemon extract
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

    Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs one at a time.

    Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.

    Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 325° (do not preheat oven) for 1 1/2 hours +.
