- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. buttermilk or orange juice
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions

1Cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine dry ingredients.

2Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, beating after each addition.

3Add flavoring.

4Spoon batter into a greased and floured tube pan.

5Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 325° and bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
