- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. soft butter
- 1/2 c. milk, scalded
- 3 to 3 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. raisins
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 slightly beaten egg
Directions

1Soften yeast in warm water.

2Combine butter, sugar, salt and milk (cooled).

3Add 1 1/2 cups flour; beat well.

4Add yeast and eggs; beat well.

5Add raisins.

6Stir in enough flour to make moderately stiff dough.

7Turn out on a lightly floured surface and knead until dough is smooth and elastic.

8Place in lightly greased bowl, turning once to grease surface.

9Cover and let double in warm place (1 1/2 to 2 hours).
