  • 1 red cabbage, chopped fine
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • bacon fat
  • 2 apples, chopped fine
  • red wine to taste
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. red currant jelly

Directions

    Saute onion, bay leaf and cabbage in bacon fat.

    Add apples and moisten with red wine.

    Continue to cook about 1 1/2 hours. Add sugar and jelly. Simmer 1/2 hour.

    Delicious with ham.
