- 1 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 5 c. flour
- 5 Tbsp. Crisco
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. warm water
Directions

1Mix yeast in warm water.

2Add buttermilk.

3Mix all dry ingredients and shortening together.

4Then pour in buttermilk mixture.

5Mix with hand.

6Place on floured flat surface and knead 20 to 30 strokes.

7Roll on flat, floured surface; cut with biscuit cutter.

8Place on cookie sheet or in a cake pan.

9Set in warm place until double in size, about an hour.

10Bake in 400° oven.
