- 1 3/4 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

1Heat milk, sugar and shortening until shortening melts, cool. Dissolve yeast in water.

2Add to cooled first mixture.

3Add flour to mixture and mix with a rotary beater.

4Allow to rise until double (about an hour).

5Stir down and add remaining ingredients and enough flour to make it the consistency of biscuit dough. Shape rolls and dip in melted butter.

6Place in greased pan and allow to rise 2 hours.

7Bake in a 400° oven until brown.
