- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 4 c. flour, sifted
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 level tsp. shortening
Directions

1Soak yeast cake in lukewarm milk for 10 minutes.

2Add all other ingredients, stirring mixture into soft dough.

3(Add more milk, if needed.)

4Let rise until mixture has doubled in bulk (about 2 hours).

5Knead or stir well; shape into rolls.

6Place in well-greased pan.

7Let rise until rolls have doubled in bulk (about 1 hour).

8Bake in moderate oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Yields 24 rolls.
