Ingredients

  • 4 sliced flank steaks
  • mustard
  • pepper
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • flour and water for thickening
  • 2 c. (1 liter) water
  • salt
  • 12 oz. bacon, diced
  • 1 stick butter or margarine

Directions

    Lightly pound steaks.

    Streak mustard on steak, adding salt and pepper.

    Dice onion and bacon and mix together.

    Add equal amounts to each steak, spreading evenly.

    Start with the smaller end, roll the steak forward and fasten with a clamp or a string. Brown evenly using butter or margarine.

    Add 2 cups (1/2 liter) water; cover and bake in moderate oven (325° to 350°) for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

    Thicken with flour and water to which a little salt is added.
