Sage Meat Loaf

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. fine dry bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. snipped parsley or 1 Tbsp. dried parsley
  • 1 tsp. salt plus 1/2 tsp. ground sage
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef or ground chuck
  • 1/4 c. ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard

Directions

    Combine eggs and milk; stir in the bread crumbs, onion, parsley, salt and sage.

    Add beef; mix well.

    Pat mixture into an 8 x 4 x 2-inch loaf pan and bake 1 1/4 hours at 350°.

    Spoon off the excess fat.

    Combine the ketchup, brown sugar and dry mustard; spread over the meat loaf and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes.

    Serves 6 to 8 people.
