  • crisp lettuce leaf, washed and dried
  • 2 (4 ounce) cans sardines in oil, drained
  • 1 medium red onion, peeled, sliced into rings
  • 1 medium green pepper, cleaned and cut into strips
  • 3 tablespoons salad oil
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar or 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 -2 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
  • salt, pepper to taste
