- 1/2 c. cornstarch
- 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. butter
Directions

1Preheat oven to 325°.

2Sift flour with cornstarch, sugar and salt 3 times.

3In a large bowl with wooden spoon, beat butter until creamy.

4Gradually work in flour mixture.

5Pat into 9 x 9-inch pan.

6Prick with fork all over (right through until fork hits bottom of pan).

7Bake for about 45 minutes, until slightly golden.

8To test for doneness, take from oven and cut small piece. Shortbread should be uniform in color; no dark line appearing in the center.

9Cut into squares while warm.

10If desired, sprinkle with sifted confectioners sugar.
