- 2 unbeaten egg whites
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 5 Tbsp. cold water
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar or 1 1/2 tsp. light corn syrup
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Place egg whites, sugar, water and corn syrup or cream of tartar in the top of a double boiler and beat until thoroughly blended.

2Place these ingredients over rapidly boiling water.

3Beat them constantly with a rotary beater or wire whisk for 7 minutes. Remove icing from heat, add 1 teaspoon vanilla.

4Continue beating until icing is the right consistency to spread.

5You may add 1/2 cup chopped nuts, coconut or crushed peppermint candy.
