  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/2 c. milk

    Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

    Cut in shortening; combine beaten egg and milk.

    Add all at once to dry ingredients.

    Stir just to moisten.

    Knead gently on a lightly floured surface, about 12 strokes. Pat or roll to 1/2-inch thick; cut into 9 biscuits.

    Bake at 450° for 10 minutes.
