  • 1-1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold butter or margarine
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup maple-flavored or pancake syrup
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1-1/2 cups multi-grain cereal, any variety

    Preheat oven to 375F.

    Mix flour and granulated sugar in medium bowl.

    Cut in 1/2 cup butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    Press firmly onto bottom of greased 9-inch square baking pan.

    Bake 20 min.

    or until very lightly browned.

    Mix egg, syrup, brown sugar, melted butter and vanilla until well blended.

    Stir in cereal until well coated.

    Spread evenly over warm crust.

    Bake an additional 20 to 25 min.

    or until topping is firm around edges and slightly soft in center.

    Cool on wire rack.
