Simple Daal Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 teacup of lentils (wash and drain)
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- to taste Salt
- 1 small onion sliced
- 1 knob of butter
- 10 15 leaves of chopped fresh coriander
- 2 pts of water
Directions

1Wash the lentils and soak them for 30 minutes.

2Bring them to a boil in a saucepan.

3Add turmeric.

4Reduce and allow to simmer

5Stir occasionally, until the lentils are completely mashed ideally 1 1/2 hrs 2 hrs.

6Add water during cooking to maintain soup consistency.

7While the Daal is cooking, fry the onion in the butter,

8until the onions are golden.

9Add these to the Daal just before serving.

10If you like a little extra zing add 1/4 tsp of Garam Masala just before serving, and garnish with the fresh chopped coriander.

11Serve with fresh naan and natural yoghurt.
