Sourdough Bread (From Starter)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. starter
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. salt

Directions

    In a large bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water and let it stand for 5 minutes.

    Stir in sugar, eggs and starter.

    Gradually add flour mixed with salt.

    Cover bowl with a damp towel and let dough rise until doubled.

    Knead on floured board until satiny. Shape into 1 large loaf or 2 smaller loaves.

    Set on a cookie sheet to bake or put in greased bread pans.

    Make diagonal slashes on top of bread and cover.

    Let rise until doubled in size.

    Then bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes.
