  • 1 1/2 lb. coarsely ground meat (chuck)
  • 1/4 c. corn oil
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, finely chopped (large carrots)
  • 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
  • 1 large can and 1 small can whole tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 6 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 c. water

    Brown onions in butter and oil in large pot. Add meat. Brown well. Add garlic, vegetables, salt and pepper as you brown meat. When browned, sprinkle mixture with flour; simmer for a few minutes.
