  • 2 qt. crabapples with stems
  • 3 c. distilled white vingear
  • 3 c. water
  • 6 c. sugar
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. allspice
  • 1 Tbsp. whole cloves

    Wash and drain crabapples--do not peel.

    Pierce peel with a large sterilized needle to prevend bursting.

    Mix vinegar, water and sugar.

    Add spice bag.

    Boil until syrup coats spoon.

    Add crabapples, reheat slowly to avoid bursting the skin.

    Simmer until apples are tender.

    Pack in hot jars.

    Fill jars with boiling syrup, process 20 minutes in a boiling water bath.
